    Great Product for Older Dogs

We have an 80lb lab that is 8 years old. We live on a state highway, though a little ways off, and I wanted something so that our big fella could run around but not get hit. I heard about this product and I purchased it. I wasnā€™t sure if you could teach an old dog new tricks but let me tell you this thing works. I worked with him for several days and he got zapped a few times but he learned quickly where the boundaries are and has done great! He loves his freedom. I highly recommend this product!

Great for stubborn dogs! And so easy to set up!!

This was the absolute best option available to keep my dog in my yard. Love not having to bury any cables, just plug in the module and set a perimeter and you’re ready to go! Been using for about 2 years now and have no issues whatsoever! A++

I had some dead spots until I moved the base station upstairs

We were out of ideas on our 80 pound puppy. This was the first dog we’ve ever had, and immediately regretted. We just don’t have an ideal setup to house him and let him run free to get his exercise. We live on a few acres of land, but no fence. Fences are expensive lately so we couldn’t swallow that pill. This was our last resort, and I only did I because Amazon lets you return anything with minimal hassle. I wasn’t sure it would work, but after a few kinks it works fantastic! Our first attempt was to place the base station on the first level of our house. I tried a few different locations but inevitably there would be areas that wouldn’t trigger the collar. I was told that it doesn’t work well on grade…that was bad advice. It actually works perfectly upstairs, casting it’s beam downwards. I have it set on the maximum range, giving him 3/4 of an acre to roam around our house. There are no dead spots! If you have a single story home, I’d try to put it up in the attic. I think you’ll be surprised how well it works. We have the shock setting at a level 5, and it makes him yelp. It goes up to level 6. He’s terrified to get close to the perimeter. All that to say, that this is certainly a strong enough shock collar for any dog! Lastly, if you think you’re going to train your dog successfully with only one or two shocks…I’d think again. The only way these dogs learn is through the brief experiences of pain. You can do the doggy treat thing with the collar set on sound only until the cows come home (which is what we tried for several days). In the end, he’s going to run into the perimeter, get shocked, and come back. Or continue running beyond the perimeter and might even be scared to come back the first time or two. It only takes a few of these instances though and he will remember! It’s a great product, and you can always return it on amazon. Good luck!

I was skeptical, but it worked AMAZINGLY

So my dog is a BIG 75lb Lab Malamute mix, with super long thick hair, and stubborn to boot. I was super skeptical about this product actually working but because it’s Amazon, I knew if it didn’t work I could send it back. SO, I set up the home base, set the perameters on a guesstimate based on the charts provided, put the collar on the highest level (since his hair is so long), and gave it a try. I skipped the two weeks of training as suggested and just took him outside. We live in a townhouse WITHOUT a fenced yard so typically if he gets off the leash he books it. WELL… when he went to book it he got the shock of his life. Literally. Came whimpering back tail between his legs wondering what the heck just happened. Second time we went out, he went to chase a neighbors cat. Same thing, got outside the zone, was shocked, came back to our area. After those two shocks he stopped running to take off. He then started walking around to figure out boundaries to the point where he now walks my daughter to the edge of the boundary on her way to the bus stop then just sits and watches her walk the rest of the way. This thing is truly a great product that actually works. Worth the money for sure! We live where the air hurts your face, and by that I mean with the windchill it gets to -60Ā° sometimes. So being able to just let him out and not have to bundle up to go with him has been great. We’ve had this product for 3 to 4 weeks now and I am so glad we bought it! 5 out of 5 stars, would buy again!

Very easy to set up and use

We never even needed flags. We walked him to boundaries and allowed him to hear beeping and pulled backā€¦ did this a few times and let him go! He went out until he heard beeping and then continued slowly testing the noice until he was zapped! One time and only once! He never test the boundaries after hearing signal ever since! And the charge is amazing!

    ;est collar ever!!

This collar has definitely been worth every penny. We have tried several collars for our 125lb pup and none of them worked. I hated to have her chained up when she went outside. I have never had to chain any of my dogs but she isn’t like my other dogs. She would run off any chance she got. We were worried something would happen to her. This collar has been a wonderful change. It stops her instantly and gives her plenty of room to run. She learned her boundary within a week. Once, I forgot to turn her collar on, she still stayed in her bounds. We’ve had the collar for 9 days we only charged it when we took it from the box. If you have a dog that needs contained in your yard, then this collar is perfect. I recommend this to anyone I know who may need it. It will 100% contain your dog. The petsafe company has wonderful products including their training collar. You won’t go wrong with Petsafe!!!

    Super happy with this!

We have an ADHD Mini Australian Shepardā€¦haha. He escapes ALL THE TIME to the point where it was causing me so much stress and anxiety. I bought this intending to set this up right away, but then I found myself worried that this fence would be abusive in some way. So, it sat on a shelf for over a year before we finally got it out, set it up, and got to training. Our dog is smart, fast, young, and LOVES chasing all the animals that come into our yard. We trained him within three weeks using the directions and Iā€™ve been surprised how well this has worked. We get deer multiple times a week and even with that temptation he stays in the boundaries. We keep the collar on level 5.I charge the collar about once every two weeks. This has given us so much peace of mind!*My only complaint is that it can be very challenging to change the shock settings. I got frustrated many many times trying to change the settings and many times just gave up.Overall, a great purchase and love that the boundary is so adjustable.

    Won’t charge anymore

It worked great at first! It only took one “buzz” to get my dog to stay in the boundary. But now, it won’t hold a charge. I don’t know if it’s the collar or the charger where the problem is. I’d like to get another collar but wow, they’re expensive!

    Usually works for my dog

Got this for my Rottie, at first I was able to get away with an in ground fence across the driveway to keep him out of the road, and he was content to roam on my and my neighbors’ property (about 400 acres) then he started going farther and farther, eventually roaming 5-6 MILES away from home. Got this and it usually keeps him contained. It certainly gets his attention when it goes off as it literally shocks the crap out of him (he always craps right after getting the correction), fortunately he usually turns back when it beeps. HOWEVER on occasion he is hard headed and will just take the hit until the collar runs down or times out.Unfortunately the fence area is extremely variable. I have the base and the extender, both turned up to max range at both back corners of my house (wood siding and shingle roof). I walked the boundary area with the collar in my hand and put a flag where it first beeped, then showed him. Unfortunately tried it again a few days later and the boundary was about 20ft closer than the previous time. Charged the collar and it was still smaller than when the flags were put, so make sure to take that into acocunt

Good to keep dogs in yard

I have other pets already with this static shock collar so I knew what to do to train my newest dog.Itā€™ll take a few weeks of working with them. Donā€™t set shock to high at 1st, just see if they respond to the alert and the static shock.Slowly increase as needed. I set boundaries short at 1st so I could walk my dog around perimeter.I have an Akita and had to get extra long prongs to make it through her fur.My akita does test it & if I fail to re-charge every 10 days to 2 weeks, she will get out.

I wish I’d bought it sooner. It’s well worth the money and contains our dogs well.

As someone else mentioned, I wish I’d bought this earlier! The price was more than I really wanted to pay for a containment system (especially since I had to buy a second collar for our other dog) so I hesitated to purchase it for almost a year and a half. Our dogs got more persistent at breaking out of the back yard and barking at neighbors and chasing cars (we live in a rural area with neighbor dogs that do the same thing but I wanted to be a more responsible pet owner). I broke down and bought the system. It is easy to install the main unit and collars but getting the unit set to the right range was a little time consuming. I put the flags up at the approximate range of their new “approved area”, and spent maybe 15 minutes each training our two dogs. When the alarm on the collar would go off, I’d run them back towards the house and reward them. That’s all the training it took for my dogs! One day! Now, even if we forget to put their collars on, they don’t move very far off the front porch. They can still get out of the back yard but when they do, they always end up right on the front porch. No more bothering neighbors on walks. No more chasing cars! I don’t have to worry about them leaving out property at all. They did get shocked a few times in the beginning, when I was training, but it was at the lowest level of shock, and that’s all it took. I love this product! In the end, it was well worth the money and it provides me with the piece of mind of having my dogs on my property at all times and under control. Just so you know, I have a large 80 lb black Labrador and a 16 lb Maltese Shitzu and it works well with both of them. Oh, and we have nearly an acre of land and the range on this is great! I only have it set at 5.5 out of 10 in terms of range, and it covers the area that I want it to – not quite the whole acre but pretty close.

    Pricey but worth it

This item is a bit pricey, but worth it. I have a very stubborn dog and he no longer tries to leave the yard with this system. I have tried others and they didn’t work as well. He just blew through the perimeter without a care. Now he cares.

So far, perfect for my Giant Schnauzer

I just received this yesterday. After reading probably hundreds of reviews, I determined that I could not determine if it would work for me. I decided to try it, given the 30 day return window. If anything changes with this review, I will update.I live on 5 acres, with about 3/4 of an acre around the house that is yard. The rest is woods. All neighbors are at least an acre away. My property slopes but I don’t have valleys or ravines, nor do I have metal buildings. I have a lightly busy road in front, a rental home to one side and a neighbor on the other side about 2 acres away. The backyard is woods sloping up. The front yard is grass and weedy easement, sloping down.I wanted to keep my pup from visiting the rental home and getting to the road. I wanted to have space to play frisbee. I wanted him to be able to explore up into the woods out back. I wanted to be able to work in the yard with him out, not having to spend more time watching him than working.I placed the base unit on a covered porch on one side of the house.I started training in the driveway with flags clearly placed at the ‘tone’ boundary. The collar was set at 2. He saw the flags, noticed the tone and the zap got his attention but was mild. I upped the collar to 4 and started over. After about 10 minutes of training in the driveway, he would stay behind the tone boundary and not follow me as I walked to the road.Giant Schnauzers run like racehorses when the mood strikes. He was running his zoomies, into the easement, and came to the boundary. One small yelp and he turned around and zoomed in the other direction. He seems to have understood and was not traumatized at all. That was the only time he yelped at getting zap. He usually reacts with an ear twitch, maybe a little jump, and then backs up.This morning, I trained in the rental home direction. People were there, including loud little kids. He got one zap, turned around, and decided he wasn’t interested. So far, I am thrilled with this purchase.

    Not consistent

Did not work correctly for our yard. We followed instructions to determine the “line” for signaling the warning. No matter where we tested, it changed every time! We took our rescue dog out to begin training and she was immediately shocked, which horrified us. However, we purchased this because our son has it and it works great for him. Too bad it didn’t work properly for us.

Works Well for Our Explorer GSP

Our GSP is very instinctive to chasing anything, after a scary experience of her getting lost from chasing deer, I researched every invisible fence for days and every tracking collar out there. She is doing very well with it so far and she knows her boundaries. Our neighbor also has the same wireless fence and ours fences have linked up, so just be aware of that. Luckily, both dogs are friends and now they have double the yards to play in. I also did get the FI tracking collar in the case her hunting instincts kick in and she decides to chase a bird or deer. The fence only gives the one static correction after she goes out of her boundaries, so it would still be easy for her to escape if need be. I do check in with her every few minutes, just to be sure she is still inside the boundary but I definitely have way more peace of mind after purchasing this fence along with the FI collar. The battery life is good on it so far, I’ve only had to charge it once or twice since November though she does not use this collar all day long, we just allow her increments of time throughout the day outside then I take the collar off once she is inside.

    What a great product!

My son decided he just had to have a labradoodle… After our Shih Tzu of 14 years passed away, I was not ready for another dog in the house. We loved our little dog, Barkley, and he was so smart and so well behaved… I really didn’t want a large dog. However, it’s hard not to love Cerberus, the labradoodle. He is an extremely affectionate dog, but he is a puppy and requires much training. Barkley never needed a fence of any sort; he just stayed in the yard, did his thing and came back to the house for a treat when he finished. Cerberus likes to investigate everything in the yard, and in the neighbor’s yard, and down the street…After getting Cerberus, we had to take him out to potty using a leash. That’s fine, but he was always pulling at the leash and he had no freedom that way. I began looking at wireless fence options because fencing in our yard is not really an option. I didn’t find any wireless options without high negative reviews, but I settled on this one because it seemed to be the best of the lot and so far I haven’t been let down. We’ve only been using it for about three months, so I can’t speak to the longevity issues others have experienced.Setup was easy enough. The included manual is very thorough. The hardest part was walking and flagging the perimeter, but that was not hard.We began training Cerberus by following the instructions. My wife and son began the training because I can’t hear the beeps unless the collar is held up to my ear. We took our time and continued using the leash until Cerberus stopped trying to exit the perimeter. Then one day he rushed out the door when I was going out and I thought, “Oh crap! We’ll never catch him.”, but he stayed within the perimeter and came back to us without much coaching. Since that day, we’ve stopped using the leash for his potty trips and he’s done very well, for about two months now. We sometimes let him out without supervision for short periods and he’s always where he is supposed to be when we go call for him. It’s much better without the leash and I can tell that he enjoys being off the leash too. I did have to turn the collar up to the fourth setting (stubborn dog version) to get his attention though. He even goes out without the collar sometimes now and he doesn’t try to run off. He’s been doing very well with the system and we’re very happy with it.

Worked great until collar stopped working BUT customer service was amazing, sending new collar!!!!!

UPDATE: customer service was so easy. They are sending a new collar!!!!!!Loved this unit and bought a second one to expand the play area. Was working pretty well with the exception that the perimeter would fluctuate at times. We bought a lot of extra flags and placed them inside the perimeter to account for the fluctuation so our dog would not get a shock by accident. It comes with 50 flags but we used an additional 70 that we bought at hardware store to make the fence very visible. After about a month the collar was still working but the color of the light was no longer red and green but mixed. It still seemed to charge and work okay, but now it won’t turn on and it has only been 3 months. We have a second collar from the extra unit that we are using but it is bulky. Frustrated that the rechargeable collar did not even make it 3 months. Will try and get a return. Will update if it goes well.

    Spotty Range, Strong Shock

I purchased this system primarily to keep my puppy from squeezing through the gate when it wants to explore when I leave the property. It has a habit of doing this whenever I leave to the store and is usually sitting outside of the gate because it can’t get back in. I’m on a .67 acre lot with no obstruction from my living room and the front gate (approximately 125′ away)Range:The range of the transmitter seems unreliable with the max range being up to 10 feet shorter from where I set my initial boundary flags while going through the setup instructions. Transmitter was set on a wooden table with no metal around near a window and I was able to get 97′ at the furthest point on the maximum distance setting, which was great. It comes with a mounting kit to mount the TX on a wall to maximize the range.Efficacy:My puppy is an 8 month old Pyrenees/Lab mix with a medium coat length. The 1st setting is just a tone, which is used only for training. Level 2 and level 3 got a mild reaction out of him. Level 4 made him yelp uncontrollably and I had to drag him far into the safe zone. I used the long contact probes and even trimmed the hair around the collar to ensure there was good contact on level 3, but it seems there’s a drastic difference between the intensity of level 3 and 4 settings. I tested level 6 on myself and while it gave me a good surprise, it didn’t necessarily hurt but I do not feel comfortable leaving this collar on unsupervised, which defeats the purpose in my opinion. If this system is put on a stubborn dog that gets excited and runs after something, it will most likely make them panic and not know how to make the collar stop.Price:Seems overpriced for the level of uncertainty. It is cheaper to install a physical electric fence around areas that you wish to keep your dog away from. I will be returning this product to do just that

    Can You Hear Me Now?

After reading all of the good reviews for this product I decided to buy it for my two shepherds.Pros:1.) It’s very easy to set up and has a decent area of coverage.2.) The transmitter runs quietly and doesn’t take up much space.Cons:1.) The receiver has no vibrate correction only beep and static.2.) The beep function is almost impossible to hear even for a person who wears hearing aids.3.) Even the lowest static function hurt my shepherd. It’s great that this product is easy to install and portable, but the audible alert needs to be much louder and there needs to be an option for vibrate as you escalate the levels or correction, not just beep and a painful static correction even on the lowest level.Note, I did test the collar on myself before trying with with my dog. I found the lowest static setting to be a bit too much for me, but thought it would be needed to penetrate the fur on my dog. Nope, it made him yelp in pain.It is also worth noting that I use another training collar with my shepherds. It consists of a hand held transmitter and receiver collar. Neither of my dogs rarely have to go beyond the beep correction because it is loud enough to warn them before escalating to vibration and I never have to use the static function.

Takes patience, time and practice but works

We went back and forth on getting this, but decided to bite the bullet and try it out. We are on day nine and just did the drop leash supervised play in our yard and our dog did amazing. Our kid threw the ball outside the parameter and Duke went to go grab it and instantly remembered he’s not supposed to go past the boundary. This method takes alot of patience and persistence. If you think its going to work training your dog only a handful of times its not going to work. Duke is a 120 pound Lab that is very stubborn and it is working with him because we worked with him consistently. We still are continuing the training until the last day (day 30). Overall we are very pleased with this product. I highly recommend if you’re a good dog parent and actually work with your dog.

    Worth It

This product worked exactly as advertised and I couldn’t be happier with the results.I have a 60 lb black lab/pit mix, a decent sized yard, and a nearby street with lots of traffic. I couldn’t afford to fence the yard so I was really hoping an electronic fence would be an effective solution.I put up the white flags for the first couple of weeks, but they were in the way when it was time to mow. I realized he had figured out the boarder within the first week and he began staying well within the limits on his own. – He used to run up to people walking by on the street – now he stays in the yard and talks to them from a safe distance. Perfect. – He used to chase birds and squirrels into the street – now he chases them and stops well before the street on his own.You don’t need to use the collar as much after the first couple of weeks. He’ll behave like he’s wearing the collar.I take him outside with me without the collar on and he is clearly staying within the boarders. He’s running and playing and having the best time without an actual fence holding him back… again, I couldn’t be happier with these results.

Works good and easy to setup

So far after a couple weeks of use weā€™re very satisfied with this wireless fence for our golden retriever. Once he got zapped for the first time he bolted back onto our front porch for that sense of protection. We then set the collar up to tone only. Now he roams freely around the boundaries we setup at approximately 100 feet omnidirectional and if he triggers the tone by going beyond the boundaries he immediately returns to our front porch. Couldnā€™t be more pleased at this point. My only wish that the transmitter was made smaller and weather proof for outdoor installation.

    Working Well

Very skeptical that this would be effective. Large 80lb coonhound and when he detects any interesting scent he has a one track mind..RUN! Spent time training him and introducing him to the correction and how to avoid it. First time with the collar and “free” he took off hit the boundary and stopped immediately. Turned around and came to the porch. one month in and all is well..

    Defective

We have the wireless system with two callers, identical to this one, and we love itā€¦.. however, this particular collar must be defective because it is not working. We have tried resetting it twice and while it does beep it beeps way too early within the boundary and gives no shock. Help! Weā€™ve got it tight and touching. Our dog has used the replaceable battery collar with success but we prefer the rechargeable. Help!

Works, but Iā€™m not into torchering my pup!

I am giving this product a 3 bc we ultimately had to return. It did everything it is supposed to do and works like a gem. Easy set up and covers a large area.We have a fence, but out 10 In fur baby escapes under it sometimes. I thought this would give us an extra barrier of safety! My problem is the strength of the collar. When I tested the shock on the second setting it startled me enough to throw the collar, but didnā€™t hurt terribly. Just like getting shocked with a battery. However, I didnā€™t have it on my neck and only felt it once before throwing. My dog already has a vibrating/beeping collar for barking and he completely ignores it. So I knew the sound would do nothing for him. I set it on the lowest shock setting and set out to train. Well, the first time he passed the boundary he yelped and cried so loud both neighbors came out of their houses. I felt awful and thought maybe it just startled him like it did me.Well we continued the training and he passed the barrier again. This time his response was worse and he seemed in physical pain. He ran in the house and wouldnā€™t go back in the yard for 3 days.So did it do itā€™s job? Yes! However, I canā€™t tourcher my fur baby like this ever again! Maybe heā€™s just super sensitive, but I did not expect him to have that reaction. I thought maybe he would twitch, whine a little, and then stop. This isnā€™t at all what I wanted! Maybe itā€™s better for a larger dog or one that isnā€™t as sensitive. Not the right product for us!!!

Worth the money for peace of mind. Labrador owner.

We have a Labrador puppy. Heā€™s now 7 months but we purchased this fence when he was around 4 months. I wanted to be able to let him outside and not have to worry about him wandering into our woods. This fence came with adequate instructions and it took maybe thirty minutes to set up the flags. However, we have a lot of property and wanted to allow our pup to have the full amount of space. Iā€™d imagine it would take longer to set up if you weā€™re allowing less space. Our puppy got the jist of it after only a couple of evenings though the instructions advise longer training. All dogs are different.Battery holds up well. After a couple of times going too far he quickly learned the beep means to go back towards the house.I did see reviews that having the perimeter in the driveway near vehicles could cause a dog to be shocked when they have not left their area. Our vehicles are parked in our driveway, right near the ā€œfence line ā€œ and we havenā€™t had an issue so far.

    It works!

First make sure to always take this off your dog at night if left on 24/7 it can cause irritation on your dog. I have a very stubborn husky and this was a wonderful replacement for the chain we had to use in the past, she loves having the freedom to run around the yard and greet my son when he gets home, but seriously I cannot say this enough take it off and check your dog where the collar usually sits I have been warned by my neighbor that’s a vet tech that it can cause irritation so be very watchful of it. I take hers off every night to check the batter but also her neck to make sure she has no issues with it

    It works!!

We got this for our small dog who loves to run to the nearby cow pasture and roll around in cow manure. He does this MULTIPLE times a week. Itā€™s very inconvenient to give him baths multiple times per week. He also loves to run off and go chase care. Super dangerous. So we decided to give this a try. I set this up myself in less than an hour yesterday. Really easy to do. After setting up the flags, I walked our dog around the perimeter like the manual says to do. We came inside for the rest of the day. I planned on training again today around the perimeter. This morning I put the collar on him and decided to just see what he would do. We watched out the window and he went straight to the edge of the perimeter and TURNED AROUND! He tried to go out to the road (past his perimeter) and he TURNED AROUND AGAIN when his collar started beeping. He pottied in the yard and returned back to our front porch. Who is this dog?! I canā€™t believe itā€™s already working. Iā€™m so impressed. If you are ā€˜on the fenceā€™ about buying this for your dog who might be a little mischievousā€¦DO IT!!

Works like a charm! My dog was trained in less than a week!

This is so much more convenient than having to bury a wire or spend thousands on a physical fence!! My dog was trained in less than a week on the lowest shock setting! Now, she turns around as soon as she hears the beep, no shocks even needed! The battery has lasted for about 2 weeks (and still counting) without recharging yet! Although, we do take it off of her several times a day and shut it off (so her skin does not break down from the contact points). No skin issues yet, wearing it does not seem to bother her at all and now we can let her roam in the yard by herself! Just know that this, unlike in ground electric invisible fences, is a circular area with the base being the center of the circle. So, the downside is, we would have liked to give her more area in the front yard and back yard to roam, but we had to decrease the circumference some so that she could not go into the neighborsā€™ yards on either side, which made much of the front yard off limits. She can, however, go all around the house, has access to 3/4 or more of the backyard and only about a 1/4 of the front yard. This works for us, having a good sized yard, but may be an issue if your house is real close to your neighbors. You can put the base closer to the back of your house though, if you would rather your pet have a bigger area in back and none in the front! Overall, worth every penny!

No backup battery to prevent unnecessary shock.

I’ve had the wireless invisible fence several weeks now. Set up is easy. Range is good. Training went pretty smoothly, my 1 year old mixed breed was used to free roaming so he tested the safety feature a couple times. It works by the way. He does great now, stays in the boundary even without the collar. My main concern is if your dog is wearing the collar and the power fails, there is a alarm that goes off on the unit, but your dog will get a shock even when he or she is where they belong. I assume it would be hard to remove the collar while that is happening. It will shock for 15 seconds unless the power resumes first. Would be nice if they put a backup battery in the unit to prevent that. Wouldn’t be costly nor complicated and might prevent your pet from being unnecessarily traumatised.

    Works well

I bought the kit which includes one collar and also bought this additional collar. During training, the beeps were so soft that I could hardly hear them, but the dogs can and that is what’s important. I bought an additional transmitter, too, and put a transmitter at each end of the house so that my 2 dogs would have a 100-ft perimeter around the house. At first I didn’t think it would work because the training didn’t seem to have gotten through to them and they zoomed through the line several times and didn’t seem to be affected at all. I turned the collar setting up to 3-flashes. Then on one occasion when the dog wearing this collar ran through, several minutes later when he was down by the lane – another good 100+ ft. away, he jumped, looked up at me, and came running back. After that, he stayed within the perimeter. I also have a dead-zone in the perimeter, but they don’t seem to have realized that because they were zinged already and now stay. Initially, I put the collars on them every day while I’m at work and would not use them on the weekends because they usually want to be near me when I’m at home. However, they still ran off a couple of times, so I started using it intermittently. I don’t have to put the collars on them every day at this point because they’re pretty good about staying near the house now, but do put them on if I’m going to be gone for a long time. The bottom line is that this product works and has been working reliably for a good 6-months now. I do have the transmitters plugged into UPS back up batteries in case of a power outage because I’m not sure that if the transmitters went off and the collars were on, whether the dogs would be zapped.

I bought an open box item.

I bought an open box item, upon receiving it, it was very clear the returned box was never inspected for parts. Luckily everything was in there, and the previous person packaged it well. The return slip with the previous persons info was inside the boxā€¦ name & address . I find that concerning. Also the flag markers were in a bag full of dirt and leaves. Product works great and was easy to set up. Definitely recommend 2 people, one to adjust the perimeter and one to walk around finding the perimeter.

Works great until the warranty runs out

I purchased this with high hopes to avoid a wired fence for our new dog. This item worked great and the dog obeyed the boundaries. The problem was that about 15 months in, we started to get this clicking noise from the base. Very annoying. After emailing their support, we had to reduce the distance setting to prevent the clicking. Over time it has this problem and now the dog only has about 60% of the radius she had originally. The company would not replace the unit. Not sure if we will buy another base given that they arenā€™t cheap. Great concept, terrible manufacturing

Wow, this works for my German Short-haired Pointer!

I’ve had my Pointer on the Pet-Safe system for one month. I’ve waited to review to make sure the system works. I was very skeptical before purchasing because my dog is highly active. Seems ADHD. When let to run free, he will always pick up a scent, and then he’s off for the running. Nothing will call him back! I will eventually get a call from the police in the nearby town, or the kennel just up the road. We are on ten acres, semi-rural, just within the city limits. Would love to just let him run. But?? Anyway, the Pet-Safe. I received the system about a month ago and will share my experiences.Day One: I set up the system, established the perimeter at the maximum range, white flagged….. I then put the Pet-Safe collar (at level 3) on the dog and walked him (his normal lunging from side to side) out to the perimeter. When approaching the perimeter, he would stop and just look around like “What is going on?”. I would return to the safe zone and then walk out to another flag at the perimeter. Same thing, “What is going on?”. Then return to the safe zone. We did the entire perimeter this way, and then called it a day.Day Two: I now set the level on the collar to 5. We did the perimeter walk the same way, but this time the collar got his attention and he would initiate the return to safe by himself. We made the entire perimeter with the same results. I decided to take a risk and let him run free, even though it was just day 2. He loved running free, and when nearing the perimeter, he would run back to me and sit there for a moment (while receiving praise and petting). I let him run for another twenty minutes with the same results. We called it a day.Day Three: I put the collar on him and let him run free. We enjoyed positive results and he never left the perimeter. I let him run for another half hour, then called it a day. I removed the Pet-Safe collar from him and went to turn the collar off. But, what I noticed was that I just now turned it on. Uh-Oh, I had neglected to turn the collar on when I put it on him. But, he had responded as though the collar were active. Wow, was I surprised. Trained by day three!?!This is a dog that could never be called back if he picked up a scent, which he always did. We now get to run free twice a day (usually), and have never had a failure. A few days ago, I pulled my flat bed trailer around to the back area of the property, well beyond the Pet-Safe perimeter. My dog followed and I wondered what would happen. He followed right along, but at the perimeter he immediately bolted back to the safe zone. Has done wonders for his disposition. I had to be trained too. I now make sure I’ve viewed the on/off status of the collar.I would like to comment on the system installation. The instructions mention that the system does not work well if installed near steel. My shop and all my outbuildings are covered with corrugated steel roofing and siding. I had to install this in my shop. Works fine and I’m achieving a consistent perimeter of a 150′ radius.

Some of the best money I’ve ever spent!!!

I was really hesitant to get an electric fence, because I felt like it was mean, and wouldn’t work. And we tried the kind with a wire for our English Setter, which you have to burry and oh my god that was awful. It didn’t work at all, and the dumbest part of was that if he went past the boundary it would shock him when he came back! So we returned that awful contraption and had given up. But then we got a husky/German Shepard puppy, and letting them out became impossible. They would run all over the place and get into the neighbors compost, not to mention the the husky hates being indoors and would just whine all day wanting to go out. So we finally decided to try this wireless fence. We live close to a main road and have a lot of neighbors, and with two very energetic dogs that want to be playing outside with each other ALL day, we didn’t know what else to do.I was a little nervous/intimidated when we got the wireless fence in the mail, but the set up was really easy. I plugged in the base and took the collar out. The beeps to let you know when you’re getting close to the boundary line and nice and loud and easy to hear, unlike the beeps for the other fence we tried which were so faint you could barely here them at all.I set the fence up in the middle of winter, so the flags were really hard to see, because of all the snow. I read the whole training manual, but I didn’t end up following it. I walked the dogs around their perimeter a couple times on a leash, and then let them explore on their own. I started out using the short prongs and the lowest shock level for the husky puppy (who was 6 or 7 months when we got the fence). He went right through the barrier and didn’t seem to feel any correction, so I switched to the long prongs and turned the collar up to mid/high level. He only had to get shocked once. I felt really bad when it happened, and he was scared to go outside alone for a few days after, but we’ve had the fence system for several months, and he he understands the boundary now, and won’t go passed where he hears the beeps. The training situation was similar for our English Setter who is 4. We had to order a second collar for him, because the fence system only comes with one, and the first one we ordered took batteries, instead of the rechargeable one the fence came with, so I had to send that one back for a rechargeable one (because who wants to deal with batteries). So it ended up being a couple weeks before we were able to train the English Setter on the fence also. We were more worried about him, since he’s a bird hunting dog, and will take off after birds, and also because the first fence with the wire we had to bury didn’t work at all. He has short hair so we did the short prongs on his collar and set it to the mid/high level. He also got shocked once, and for about a week would only hangout in the middle of the backyard, but now he’s completely comfortable going outside. The dogs can go out together and play for hours and I don’t have to worry about them running off. People will walk by our house with their dogs and our dogs will just sit on the front lawn behind their boundary line and won’t go passed. My boyfriend can leave the house in his truck while they’re out there and they won’t try to follow him. Which really surprised me about the English Setter, because he used to take off after him all the time.In short, this fence system has been amazing for us. Our dogs are so much happier now that they can go outside and get exercise whenever they want. They get so excited when I put their collars on, because they know it means they get to go outside. I take their collars off when they come inside, and never leave them on overnight, and I haven’t noticed any type of irritation from the prongs. The collars last a couple weeks before they need to be charged. I charge them when I see the collar beep red, which only takes a couple hours. I can’t recommended this fence system highly enough.

It works but dog wonā€™t even go outside now.

Okay, this is long but the truth! Iā€™m having mixed feelings. It works but my dog is terrified to go outside now. Hopefully he will get used to it in a few more days. We did two weeks of training. First week was with the beep. Three problems with beep training. I could not hear the beeps. My dog didnā€™t act like he heard the beeps and also, the perimeter didnā€™t seem to be consistent with flags. Still doesnā€™t. Finally, I have to walk slumped over and very close to my dog to even hear the beep and that didnā€™t always work.Second week I started using the 1st shock which is number two setting. Still not hearing beeps very well and going slow, we would walk past the flag just a little and I had to subject my dog to the 1st setting of shock just to see when and if he reacted to it. He slightly reacted and thought a bug was biting him but didnā€™t care much as he led me on the leash through the perimeter and into the yard. It didnā€™t seem like it bothered him but kept training to that for the rest of the week. Finally, after two weeks, I let him out alone to see what he would do. He went right through the perimeter again so turned it up to 3. He did cry and freak out but kept going. I think he acted confused and just ran. Well, this dog loves to chase Deer and Birds. Especially AIRPLANES, as he thinks they are giant birds. He is a Pyrenees and Lab mix. He is a sweet dog but has a mind of his own when it comes to chasing these creatures out of our almost two acre yard. Also, he LOVES people and wants to roam the neighborhood while Iā€™m busy inside or gone to work. We live almost half a mile from the highway and he has been reported lately by neighbors that he is getting close to that now, so, here we are with this system!Another problem Iā€™m having is our house shape is long from side to side. His bathroom spot is to the kitchen side of the house out where no one goes and he has been doing his business over there for 6 years. Now he canā€™t go there. I am playing with the base as to where to move it frequently to find a good perimeter for him.So now we are in our third week. I have finally had to turn the collar up to 4 since I came home, only to find him missing again. It took me awhile to find him. He was at my father in laws house and wasnā€™t coming when I called him. Finally got him home and turned collar to 5!!! I played ball with him and stayed outside to see what he would do if he happened to cross the barrier. The ball rolled down the hill and he went right after it and got one heck of a shock. He cried and screamed and went crazy! Now he is afraid to go outside. I feel terrible after that reaction. I canā€™t even get him to follow along with a leash because he is so scared. Weā€™re having a setback now and I will have to see what to do next. I guess I will try a few more days but this has NOT been easy like everyone reports. My husband thinks it cruel but itā€™s either get used to this and keep working on all settings or get hit on the highway.

Shocked the pup out of bounds… and on his way back IN.

We did all of the steps – though I don’t feel it’s necessary. If a dog has EVER had a tone/vibrate/shock collar, they KNOW what is in store for them. The warning tones were not terribly consistent as far as where it happened in many of the locations. It definitely was more like an oval than a circle, which was fine I suppose. I had set it up so the dog had a good portion of the back and side yards… but very little in the front. We have 1/3 an acre and it covered most on 8+. It really did not like to go through the wall of our detached garage. It is RIDICULOUSLY EASY to install… Plug in, turn power on, set to extra + or normal – and then choose a circle size, 1 – 10… USB charge the collar, when it’s solid green you need to set the tone/shock and put it on your pup tight enough… flag or no flag, I don’t think a dog cares.. they just need to recognize the tone. This collar, as far as I can tell does NOT have a vibrate. So it’s Tone… fast Tone… and then Shock!!!I put the flags up… walked the dog around without the collar several times, with the collar on tone-only several times, rewarded for returning, etc. etc. Finally I felt he was more than ready… put it on shock level 2… knowing he is going to HAVE to be shocked several times before he is gonna understand – he is an incredibly stubborn beagle-schnauzer mix who was from a mill… so he is quite anxious, and would love to eat each and every bunny, bird, or cat and of course EVERY delivery driver to bits and pieces… and he will. Unless given a treat and then you are his BEST friend and he WILL hop in your vehicle for a lil ride. (I wish I was joking!!) However, it’s daily… the mailman is attacking our home Every. Single. Day according to our pup. /eye roll. So he is putting around… gets close to the border… sees a rabbit and TAKES OFF for it like I lit his tail on fire. BUT… he stopped short and FAST. he was whimpering and crying out. He had been shocked… he took the whole 15 seconds… and Would. Not. Come. Back. I get it… who would cross the invisible border that SHOCKED you, again?!?! No one… he is not stupid… but under the threat of a yelling Dad to get OUT of the street and COME HERE… he did finally… and guess what, he was rewarded with another shock. Now… here is where you have to make a decision…. Is your pup going to continue to cross… be shocked… and then sit in the road till you take it off… OR does your pup figure out the warning tone is before the shock and stop. I would have given it a few more tries/shocks. (I guess I am a bit more committed to the idea of keeping him in our yard, rather than roaming on his own?! We are out in very rural country land.) our dog is ridiculously smart (about some things) and ridiculously stubborn (or perhaps a bit dim!) about others… My husband was done after it shocked him coming back IN to the “safe circle” and wanted to return it, immediately! (I am pretty certain I purchased this one… as it was not suppose to do that… but I could be wrong. I don’t want to go back and look to see if it says it does or not.)Also note… the lil shocker dealios on the collar, they are NOT covered with the lil plastic piece that you generally see with these collars. (Maybe mine were just missing??) But that is why I started on a 2… I didn’t want to actually cause him physical harm or any burns or loss of hair. Normally I test on myself first… but I was being lazy. I wish I had now. šŸ™ :(We are returning ours… it’s not a good fit… and as my husband said… Who the eff cares if he runs free… he’s a dog for fox sake and we are in the middle of almost nowhere! šŸ˜›

Just get it. It really works!

My Treeing Walker Coonhound got out of my house 4 times the week before I bought this. She kept running to the barn across the street.Well, all running off has ceased. Within ONE day she stopped running out of the yard. Took her about two days to understand her limits were the flags/collar beeps. She has not once passed her boundary and she can go outside with no leash/line at all. She loves to run around outside the house. Sheā€™s still a bit standoffish in some areas she can go but this wireless fence system has truly been a lifesaver and a life changing experience. Iā€™m so so so glad I decided to try it. I think anyone without a fence should invest.

Not hard to set up at all took an hour thatā€™s it hold the collar and walk until it beeps and stick a flag in the ground .. walk the dogs across the flags and introduce them to the beep but not to far so they get zapped . Iā€™ve not had a escape yet and the dogs play outside all day now with no worries

    Love it

We were nervous to spend this much money on something we werenā€™t sure would work. As soon as we put it in our lab, it worked amazing. We did not even have to train her, she had her boundaries learned immediately. We have even forgotten her collar and she stays in the boundary. So far it is an excellent purchase.

    Works well

I have a small dog, so it was a little harder to find a wireless unit that would work for us. It took a little bit of time to set it up and tweak it to my rectangular shaped yard, but once I got the hang of it, it went pretty quick. My dog was trained in 3 days and we haven’t had any issues at all with the unit. It has been about a month now and we’re really happy with the results.
