Read my review
I did a taste test with my dog. I put four different dog foods in four different bowls. My labradoodle smelled each bowl and after smelling all the foods my very picky eater chose this food and ate the entire bowl. Seller was great absolutely no issues.

My puppy ate this food until she turned 1, then we mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with the small breed adult kind. Her coat is extremely shiny because of Merrick. My other dog ate Merrick exclusively her entire life. Big fans.

My dog did not like this
My dog did not seem to like this very much the food sat in his dish for a couple days so I finally had to throw it away and I’m trying again I added some beef broth to it and he finally did eat it at the end of the day… went hungry all day before he ate it.

Food is great, my puppy loves it but I have ordered it twice and both times the bag is not resealable as described. The seal is only partially fastened to the inside of the bag therefore you cannot seal the bag and keep it air tight.

Excellent puppy food.
Less filler equals less waste eliminated by your pet. I highly recommend this puppy food. My Goldendoodle loves it. The smaller kibbles give her more bites per scoop.

Not working out
I like Merrick Healthy Grains products (not ever grain free), but this puppy version just is not agreeing with my puppy’s system. I keep trying to transition him to it but every time he gets loose stools and it doesn’t go away till I transition him back off it.I can only assume it just doesn’t work for him.

Good quality, TEXAS made dog food
Dogs seem to like it. Noticeably still alive. It is made in texas, with local ingrediants. That is huge. Both my dogs were made in texas, so it just seems right.

Poop not solid
Great food, but too strong for my pup. We couldn’t get past the runny poop. As soon as we switched, solid poops. Bummer though bc I truly think this is a great food.

Great Ingredients but dog kept throwing up
I did a lot of research when it came to picking a dog food and this dog food had all of the right ingredients. My French bulldog puppy was on this food for three months and got sick almost every day we transitioned her food over a three-week period. We switched to royal canine and she has not thrown up at all. I still think it is a good product and has great ingredients but for some reason my dog did not tolerate this food.

Not good for our golden retriever puppy
Our puppy never had normal stools on this food and eventually started having pretty constant diarrhea. We switched to a bland diet of chicken and rice per our vet for a few days due to digestive issues and then when we tried to go back to this kibble she had explosive diarrhea and poor thing who has been sleeping through the night whined and had to go 3x during the night. So we went back to chicken and rice for a second time and then again tried to reincorporate the kibble and same thing, explosive diarrhea (sorry for that image, but it’s true) in the middle of the night. I could not bear to give this to our pup again so stopped it immediately. I gave it two stars instead of one because I thought the ingredients looked good and there were no potatoes. Maybe it will work for you, but definitely did NOT work for our golden retriever.

Great quality & pups love it
My two 13 week old standard poodle puppies LOVE their food. Vet recommended that their food include grains (returned grained free) because studies have shown that it builds stronger resistance to cancers. Nonetheless Boaz & Nala absolutely go nutso for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Nice quality and our bag was fresh/no bugs, etc.

If you want a high quality dry puppy food, choose this one.
If I had done more homework before our puppy got here a full week sooner than expected, I’d have gone to Merrick’s Puppy Plate canned food. I have too many tasks to add more to cook from scratch, but Merrick’s is a highly rated dog food that our golden has thrived on for years. I’ve just ordered the Puppy Plate cans, and I’ll blend the kibble into it to transition the pup gradually. I respect others who see no problem using the kibble by itself. In a perfect world, I’d prepare both dogs’ meals at home.

I do not reccomend.
My 2 Bassett puppies will not eat it. Mixing with current food, they both leave only this food in the bowl, or all over the floor when rey literally spit it out. Guess I should have read other reviews before wasting $60. Also we believe it made 1 pup sick. 1st day we fed it, he was throwing up, not long after eating, same thing with the morning feeding. This went on for 3 days, and a vet visit. Throwing a bug bag away. Not recommended by our vet either.

Please research “grain free” diets for dogs
My less than 1-yr old puppy didn’t take to this after having purina pro plan puppy food. She started out on Merrick & I switched her after the opinion of my vet & another vet while I was traveling & she needed her final puppy shot. I did the gradual transition by mixing the foods together and not cold-turkey! But, have also read several articles about “grain free” dog foods & not so good results . . .

Good healthy grains and made in USA
We got a new West Highland Terrier puppy, and they can be prone to skin issues. Due to the current controversy, the vet did not want her on a grain free diet. This is one of the few well-known brands, that you can find with healthy grains and it’s made in the USA. She loves it and no problems so far

Be careful of Grain-Free formulas
Just be careful with grain-free foods. Sweet potato and peas added in excess can cause certain urinary tract issues. My pup got crystals in her urine from eating this. It won’t happen with every dog, but make sure to consult your vet when choosing a food for your puppy. If it works for your dog, more power to you! Didn’t upset her tummy at all, her coat was nice, but definitely had issues with the urinary tract handling the excess of sweet potatoes and peas.

Despite quality & high cost, Puppy doesn’t like any flavor of Merrick
Love how healthy this product is in all flavors. Puppy is healthy & coat is shiny However he doesn’t like to eat Merrick unless he’s starving And after leaving it sit for10 hours ! I have even tried wet food as a topper And still he is not interested.

Rusty’s not a fan……
Merrick appears to be a good high quality dog food from all the reviews I’ve read. The only problem I encountered after buying Merrick for my miniature dachshund is that he just won’t eat it. So he’s off the grain free experiment and back on the Purina Pro Plan.

Love this brand!
Merrick is a terrific brand. I buy the dry and canned food for my puppy and mix it together. I was introduced to this brand when I rescued my dog and the sponsor family was using Merrick to feed their dogs. I was given a small bag to take home and have been sold ever since. Now, my son and daughter both use Merrick for their dogs. Some of the reviews have stated that their cans arrived damaged. I have never had this problem. Merrick also donates to worthy causes, like K9 Warriors. I have purchased the canned Hero’s Banquet and like that I am getting excellent quality, too.

Fantastic food!
Merrick food is some of the best out there. My very active border collie mix loves the taste! Actually, after sampling myself (don’t judge. I mean we give them people treats so I wanna know how it compares) and found it pretty good. My pup has a shiny, super soft coat that everyone who pets him comments on. His poops are formed and with minimal odor. He seems to really enjoy this food and even prefers it to other food types (treats and friends try to give him bites of their pets foods and he declines!) I believe this food has provided my boy with so much goodness that if it were better, my fur kid would be a superhero. Well, to me he is already, but you get the point.

This had been a very good choice for our Xander, a Husky!
My daughter uses Merrick for her dogs, and they love it, and she has been very satisfied. I decided to give it a try, and Xander really loves it, too. It has the essential ingredients my dog needs, and he is thriving! He is 9 months old now, and I plan to move into the adult dog food when the time comes. BTW, if you have a Husky, here is something that you need to know. Huskies are grazers. Xander is my second Husky. My first Husky, a female, lived to be 15, and she, like Xander, would ignore their food for a couple days and then the bowl would be empty. It is a Husky thing, so do not freak out if you think they do not like the food. Stick with it. We free feed because with a grazer, you do not have to worry about over-feeding. They tend to self regulate. Back to the product…highly recommend!!!

Buyers beware- light in color, loose stool as well as blood and mucus
I’m not sure I’ve ever left a review like this, but I am honestly beside myself and hope I can help someone else avoid what my pup has been going through. My chewy order was delayed due to the hurricane so I ordered from Amazon out of convenience/necessity. My first thought was that the kibble looked slightly lighter than what my pup had been eating, but the reviews were good so I pushed that thought to the back of my mind. Her first helping of the Amazon Merrick was Saturday am, and by that evening, her stools were much lighter and looser, and gradually turned into diarrhea. By Sunday evening, I found traces of mucus and blood in my dogs stool. Luckily, she had a vet appt today so I was able to give them the sample in case it was not food related, however the timeline makes me feel that the food is behind it. My chewy order arrived today and I opened it immediately to compare the kibble visually, as well as look at the ingredients list side by side. Everything on the packaging is the same, but the kibble itself is not (as pictured). I have no authority to guess what the deal is here, I only have my own experience to go off of and it was not a good one. This cannot be the same food and I sincerely hope whoever is behind these orders takes into consideration the health risk, especially in regards to a puppy.

Great Non-Chicken Puppy Option
We feed our adult bulldog Merrick and we’re thrilled there’s a puppy option without chicken since we switched our adult dog over to beef or salmon to help with itchy skin from allergies. Within the first week, our puppy stopped scratching her ears and chewing on her paws.

Tasty food for the pickiest eater!
We adopted a Yorkie puppy in November of 2020. I spent so much money trying to find a food she’d eat. And finally, after spending a lot of money and time researching health options for little Lolly Belle I hit on Merrick and she’s been happy ever since. Unbeknownst to me Yorkies are peckish eaters and I was relieved to finally, find the food she enjoys. ♥️ MM Klaar

My puppy loves this food!
My puppy loves this food; the vet has stated multiple times that the pup has excellent muscle mass and is in great shape – a lot to do with the quality of the food he’s eating. The pup is a Bernedoodle/Aussiedoodle mix and went from 8lbs at 8 weeks to now 14 weeks and 23 lbs. Can’t speak to flavor or any of that but I can tell you my Dood loves it. Never leaves any behind 🙂

Quality Dog Food
My 6lb 6 month old Pomeranian seems to love this food. I love that it’s made in America & hopefully lives up to quality standards. She has been on it for over two months & her coat looks beautiful & thick. Teeth are nice & clean. Stools are just the right consistency. Hopefully the suits won’t get ahold of this to soon to remove high quality ingredients in exchange for profit.

Yummy for my Puppy!
I have a 4 month Golden Retriever female and I’ve pretty much tried buying all kinds of Holistic Food for her. She wouldn’t eat any of them she was actually getting too skinny and no sign of that puppy belly. A local pet store employee recommended this brand even though they don’t carry this puppy line of the Merrick food. So I figured it’s worth a shot and ordered it here because it was quicker then them doing a special order. I slowly switched the food and I could see her immediately picking these pieces from the others. Now she finishes the food every time and is gaining weight nicely and I can see a little belly again. She even sits for her dish every night and seems so excited. Thank you Merrick!

More bang for your buck
I did a price comparison at PetSmart since my Walmart’s or smiths doesn’t carry this brand & honestly I got more for my money by ordering online. It is a big bag and healthy for my puppy since she only deserves the best! Plus I have Amazon prime & I got free shipping! Good value for money if you ask me.
